Unruly Child

Unruly Child

When Frontiers Records asked Bruce Gowdy (who subsequently asked me) if he thought the original Unruly Child could get back into the studio and write and record another album, my reaction was a deadpan "...really???". At that time - Bruce and I hadn't tried to write anything in that style for at least 7 years and Unruly Child (in it's original incarnation) hadn't been creative together since 1992. But we said, "why not - we did it before, we can do it again".
Turns out we were right about that. Worlds Collide was received by the public and the internet press "en masse" as an amazing comeback album. It was actually even voted in the top 3 best "melodic rock" records of 2011, with the single "Very First Time" voted number 1 for the year. Not bad for an unplanned attempt at "giving it a go".
Because of that album, we started working together again - and Bruce, Marcie and I realized that we could still be creative, all these years later. We've continued testing the waters, recently, on some new material. I'm not saying exactly where this is going right now - but I'm really liking the direction.

To borrow a quote from Jimmy Page...

"... we kept moving forward and didn't try to recreate the past .. the approach to each album was radically different every time. Many bands would have some success and, because they were locked into having a single - something we didn't have to worry about - they had to make sure there was something similar on the next album ... that was never the idea with Led Zeppelin .. the goal was to keep that spark of spontaneity at all times ..."
